We have dates available for artists to run workshops and art classes at the Gallery in the evenings.

STARTER CLASS: Art Classes with Lorraine Auton   (CLASS FULL)

Exploring and developing art techniques. Sessions have a different subject so you can join in at any time. 

Classes are flexible and tailored to the individual needs of the students.

Session 1  - Happisburgh Lighthouse - Using pen and watercolour wash

Building on the line and wash drawings done in the perspective lesson, we will explore how curves are affected by high and low viewpoints.

Time:  7pm to 8:30/9:00pm.

Cost:  £10 per session

Exploring and developing art techniques. Sessions have a different subject so you can join in at any time. 

Classes are flexible and tailored to the individual needs of the students.

Session 2  - Colour Theory

Don't fret, it's actually quite interesting!

How colours are mixed and how they affect each other. You will then produce a vibrant acrylic painting of your choice using only the 3 primaries, plus black and white, to make all the colours you will ever need.

Time:  7pm to 8:30/9:00pm.

Cost:  £10 per session

Session 1  Eirlys's Horse

Detail:  A choice of pencil, pastels or acrylic paint will be available to make a study of this horse from a photograph.

Time:  7pm to 8:30/9:00pm.

Using a choice of drawing media, including chalk, charcoal and pastel, you will recreate an atmospheric scene by adding just the highlights.

Detail:  The sketching task in this batch will involve drawing a selection of glass and shiny objects.

Session 4  - Barn Owl

Observational drawing of a taxidermied owl (licensed and from the SOS Owl sanctuary in Suffolk). Guaranteed that she will sit still for the session.

Session 3:  Acrylic Tree Panel

Detail:  We will use paint and some acrylic medium to create a small woodland textured panel.

Time:  7pm to 8:30/9:00pm.

Session 5  - Outside sketching (weather permitting)

We will go into the local churchyard to study some architectural features, or trees if preferred. Should the weather be against us then there will be a back-up lesson in the Studio.

Session 4:  Seascape

Detail:  In this session we will try to recreate waves using paint, masking fluid and medium.... or just paint or pastels if you prefer.

Detail:  Weather permitting, we will meet at a local location (place to be confirmed) to work outside in the natural light and fresh air. If it rains, there will be a back-up plan!
